A 2010 Next Wave Festival Keynote Project
Great Heights is a series of immersive events across an inner-city Melbourne rooftop. Great Heights elevates artists and audiences high above the city to explore the possibilities of rooftop spaces: locations which are often hidden from the public eye and inaccessible to the passerby, but which might reveal exhilarating new perspectives and re-cast our surroundings in an extraordinary new light.
From quiet moments of reflection to breathtaking kinetic and light-based interventions, the Great Heights events will explore notions of vertigo, trespass, escape, transcendence, sanctuary, exposure and confrontation. Wander through these altered environments and rethink the space and time you inhabit.
The Great Heights artists will open up the city in new ways, providing a unique opportunity to creatively re-imagine the ground-level landscape we so often take for granted.
