And That Was The Summer That Changed My Life

In 1997, Zoë Coombs Marr started High School, broke her cheekbone with a hockey ball, taped every episode of Buffy and Xena, wrote mean graffiti about herself in the girls’ toilets just to be noticed and sat on Santa’s lap for the last time.

This show is about all that.

And That Was The Summer That Changed My Life is about endless firsts. Life before hindsight, when anything was possible, because no one had ever been you before. When BFF really meant something. When you wished you’d never been born (door slam). When you couldn’t quite control your facial expressions and just breathing was embarrassing. It’s about the day after your thirteenth birthday, when everyone else in the flute section was kicked out of regional band camp, and you got to play all the solos in the West Side Story Medley – and knew you’d never feel that good about yourself again.

The debut solo show by Zoë Coombs Marr (post, WONKA!, The Mad Max Remix), And That Was The Summer That Changed My Life is an eternally daggy, unabashedly sentimental and hilariously cringe-worthy plunge into the humiliation, outrage and exhilaration of being a teenager.

“A show about the secret shame we all share, for the person we’d rather forget we once were.” Zoë’s mum

Please note that this show contains occasional coarse language and adult themes.
